Pearl Farm Beach Resort is a renowned world-class beach resort in Samal Island off the coast of Davao City. It is nestled on a secluded cove in the Island of Samal, cascaded with pristine white sandy beaches, unspoiled lush vegetation, and flourishing flora and fauna. This 14-hectare paradise was once a pearl farm, where thousands of giant white-lipped oysters (taklobo) transported from the Sulu Sea, were cultivated for their pink, white, and gold pearls for commercial purposes.

Today, the resort has 73 fully air conditioned luxurious guestrooms, suites, cottages, and villas that sit around the contour of the island. Perched above the sea, the rooms and villas afford a breathtaking panoramic view of the deep blue waters of Davao Gulf. Each room is furnished with cable television, telephone, coffee/tea maker, mini bar, and room safe. The private toilet and bath are provided with hair-dryers.The villas were exquisitely designed from Maranao and Samal ethnic influences in both materials and forms. The facilities include outdoor swimming pools, tennis courts, badminton courts, basketball courts, souvenir gift shops, a luxurious health spa, a cocktail bar with the view of the sea and nearby islands, a restaurant that serves delicious Filipino and international cuisines of fresh seafood specialties, and fully equipped function rooms and boardrooms, and many others.

Sports enthusiasts, and first-timers alike can enjoy the challenges of wind surfing, water polo, jet-skiing, water-skiing, banana boat rides, scuba diving, sea-kayaking, Hobie Cat surfing, and even underwater photography.

Maranao Restaurant

The Maranao Restaurant, the resort’s only restaurant, features delicious Filipino and continental cuisine of fresh seafood specialties, and sumptuous buffets. A wide assortment of exotic tropical fruits such as bananas, durian, santol, papaya, green mandarin, mangosteen and mangoes, are served fresh at the restaurant.

Parola Bar

The Parola Bar features an ambiance of great food, music, videoke, different beverage concoctions and cocktail drinks, with the stunning view of Davao Gulf and adjacent islands, and Mt. Apo (Philippines' highest peak) at the background. The Parola Bar served as a lighthouse when the resort was once a pearl farm.

Ylang-Ylang Spa

Ylang Ylang Spa is one of the frequented spots in Pearl Farm. The Spa offers a wide range of beauty and soothing health treatments such as wraps, facials, body massage, and foot spas, using only natural ingredients known for their healing properties and wellness effect for the mind, body, and spirit. It is situated within a garden of vegetation amidst a man-made cascading waterfall.

Ylang Ylang is a popular flower that is endemic to the southeast Asian region, and whose fragrance is among the most intense of all floral aromas. Ylang-Ylang is widely known to be an aphrodisiac.

Butik

Butik is a souvenir gift shop that offers a variety of local handicrafts, native outfits and even the latest in trendy beachwear. Basic toiletries and necessities are also available at the shop.

Mandaya Weaving Center

Mandaya Weaving Center is also one of the frequented places in the resort, and is located near the Maranao Restaurant. Here, Mandaya tribeswomen skillfully weave their traditionally exotic and colorful handbags, mats, clothing and other native ornaments. The cloth is locally used as “Dagmay” as distinguished by the intricate figures and patterns depicting the tribal folklore and religion of the Mandaya tribe.

Pearl Farm has fully equipped multi-function rooms, and confrence rooms that are designed to accomodate up to 70 persons.

Aqua Sports Center rents out speed boats, outrigger boats for cruising, jet-skis, banana boats, kayaks, hobie cats, snorkeling gears, and has certified instructors for wind-surfing, water-skiing and scuba diving.

Game Room offers exciting board games, billiards, fooze ball, air hockey and other games for family and friends to enjoy. It is located at the  Activity Center in Mandaya Area.

Malipano Island is an island that lies a few hundred meters off the coast of Pearl Farm, and is the site of the famous Malipano Island Villas.

The Malipano Villas

The Malipano Villas are three-storey villas situated in Malipano Island, a secluded island across Pearl Farm. The design of these magnificent villas were patterned after the  Maranao and Samal ethnic design, and the roofs were exquisitely designed after the traditional Philippine native hat, the “salakot”.

The Villas are three-octagonal in shape, and are designed with wide verandas to provide a panoramic view of Davao Gulf. The reception areas, guest suites, and the dining area, are all around the cantilevered deck. Four of the Villas are perched on stilts directly above the sea, while the other three Villas are outcropped from the rocks on the beach.

The roofs were designed after the traditional Philippine native hat, the “salakot”. 

There are a total of seven, fully airconditioned Villas in the Island, equipped with mini-bars, coffee and tea makers, safety deposit boxes in the masters bedrooms, cable televisions, spacious living rooms, and even hair dryers. All the rooms have individual toilet and bath, with the master bathroom furnished with a bathtub. Butler service is available for food orders and other guests assistance. There is also a standby speedboat readily available to transport the guests to the restaurant and other facilities at Pearl Farm.

Samal Houses and Sunset Suites are designed after the stilt houses of seafaring Samal tribe of Sulu archipelago in southern Mindanao.  There are 19 superior rooms that are fully air-conditioned, with separate toilets and baths, safety deposit boxes, hairdryers, and cable televisions.

The Samal Suites are two-storey Muslim inspired cottages that are named and decorated according to the different ethnic tribes of Mindanao, such as the Tausug, Yakan, T'boli, Bagobo, B'laan and Maguindanao

There are six Samal executive rooms, consisting of two floors: the upper room where the master's bedroom is situated, is furnished with a King-sized bed, a bathtub, and an air-conditioning unit; and the lower room where the living room is situated. The living room may easily be converted into a children's bedroom, and is ideal for families with 3 children. An extra sofa bed with a trundle bed can be arranged as well. A second toilet and bath facilities are located on the lower level with a private stair that leads to the sea.

Mandaya Houses

Mandaya House

The Mandaya Houses consist of 20 de luxe rooms, and are located near the aqua sports area of the resort. The Houses, which encircle the Mandaya swimming pool, are furnished with air-conditioned units, mini-bars, hairdryers, safety deposit boxes, and cable televisions. Two rooms may be conveniently joined together to form a single unit. A small packet garden is located at the back of each room.

Balay House

The Hilltop Rooms, or Balay Houses are located on the hillside of the island overlooking the Davao Gulf, and are surrounded with lush forest. The word "Balay", which means "home" in the local dialect, is a hotel-type building designed with native materials and décor.

The Balay Houses, which consist of 17 Standard Rooms, are set atop the ridges of the Island’s highest elevation, and offer the best view of the Davao Gulf, and on a clear day, the City of Davao. All the rooms are air-conditioned, fully furnished with mini-bar facilities, hot and cold showers, cable televisions, telephones, and afford a view of the Balay Garden, and a stunning view of the sea from the verandas. The Balay Garden which is situated within the area is a suitable place for picnics and social events.

Pearl Farm Beach Resort is 1½ hours away from Manila by plane, about 50 minutes by taxi from the airport, and around 45 minutes from Davao City by ferryboat.

  2. Hey, Carlo . . . my good bud! Awesome ha! This is just one of the many, many stunning beach resorts in Davao City. It would be great if one of these days we would take a land trip from Manila to Davao via the eastern seaboard route ( Manila-Sorsogon-Samar-Leyte-Surigao-Davao ) for a grand vacation with overflowing booze and food! Well, just say the word and we are off to Davao!

The Philippines is, indeed, very rich in natural resources, and Davao City is one of those places blessed with the uniqueness and incomparable beauty and magnificence of its island getaways, the crystal clear blue waters of its sandy white coastline beaches, and the awesome breathtaking view from its mountain resorts.
