Island in the Sky

BUDA Road
(Bukidnon - Davao Highway)
Note the clouds in the background as if the highway sits afloat

While Baguio City in Benguet Province, north of Luzon island holds the distinction of being the "Summer Capital of the Philippines" because of it's cool weather all year round, wait until you see the entire stretch of the Bukidnon - Davao Highway called BUDA Road where you will find the weather, all year round, much cooler, and the air cleaner. After all, it is in Davao where you will find the country's highest mountain peak, the magnificent Mount Apo, and the surrounding mountain ranges higher in elevation than in any part of the Philippines.

"If a picture paints a thousand words . . . .", just like the old ballad says, then, let the images below speak for themselves. Oh, I love Davao City!

Soft and fluffy clouds quietly hover these mountain ranges
What a sight to behold!

The magnificent Mount Apo and its summit covered by dense clouds

The tall trees in the foreground are Pine trees

Crawling fogs in the area

An island in the sky

(The resort is one of the many top destinations in the area)

In Davao, if you want to feel the sun, the beach is just a few minutes away, whereas in Baguio City the nearest beach is in La Union Province. It is my firm hope that my fellow countrymen and foreign tourists alike will take a second look at Davao City and the countless wonders and magnificent sights it offers.

Davao City, an Island in the Sky . . .  and indeed, from Islands to Highlands!

  2. Hi can you recommend a nice hotel to stay in Davao. I found a online booking site which has a list of nice hotels in Davao. Can you help me choose or if there's one you recommend? http://www.philippinehotelreservations.com/hotels-in-davao/

  3. There are over 30 very nice and very comfortable hotels in Davao City which I classify as premier hotels, residences, inns and budget hotels. Foremost to my list is Waterfront Insular Hotel in Lanang, Davao City. I have featured the hotel in one of my posts under Premier Hotels. Also, Marco Polo Hotel and Apo View Hotel which are both in the heart of the City; the latter I stayed for six months, and you have my assurance that these three hotels top the list of my recommended hotels. There are island hotels located in Samal Island, off the coast of Davao City as well. There are also mountain resorts with very nice facilities; these are all depending on your requirement and budget. If you will be more specific with your needs, perhaps I can recommend you a hotel that will best suit your needs. In the meantime, you may want to check this link: http://davaocityhotels.blogspot.com

It is a good blog for travelers visiting Davao City. While the blog is not your usual online booking agent, it honestly tells its readers features of the hotels.

Good luck to you, and if there is anything that you want me to feature in this blog, or any assistance in places to go while in Davao City, do leave a comment anytime and I will be more than happy to give you helpful pointers.

Thank you for visiting my site and for your comment. Please do drop-in again for fresh posts and updates. Best regards.
