Waniban Island

Waniban Island

Waniban Island is one of the three small islands located within the Pujada Bay in Mati City, Davao Oriental. The Island covers an area of about 4 hectares in Barangay Tamisan, and can be explored on foot in 30 to 45 minutes only. It is owned by the family of 2nd District Board Member of Davao Oriental, Ruben Linsag.

The Island is covered with lush landscape of greenery that sits on powdery white sand beach on its shoreline amid the crystal clear turquoise waters of Pujada Bay. The northern part of the island is a popular destination for snorkeling and scuba diving. There are also mangroves in the island.

For overnight stay in the island, there are a few open cottages made of Nipa available for a fee. As there are no stores in the Island, it is best for visitors to bring their own food and water. Pitching of tents (free of charge) is allowed.
